Hi, my name is Luke. I live and work in Washington, D.C.

I’m a photographer, cinematographer, and documentary film editor. I’m currently a video journalist with Newsy’s documentary unit, where I shoot, edit and produce long-form, episodic and original documentaries.

My work includes character-driven features - like this one about the first women to make USA’s first Olympic surf team, published in partnership with Marie Claire - and shorts examining how small dollar donors are making credit card companies rich, published in partnership with POLITICO. I’ve also shot and edited video essays, explainers, and in-depth interviews, which have been published on NPRTIME, and more.

In my free time, I photograph the intersection of life and politics. My work is often published in Stop Motion - a quarterly documentary photography slideshow and zine publication. My photography has been published in Marie Claire, TIME, and The Des Moines Register.

Beyond photography, I also freelance as a camera operator and assistant camera for clients like NetflixHBO, and SHOWTIME. I most recently worked on The Family (Netflix), The Fourth Estate (SHOWTIME), and two musical performances for Late Night with Seth Meyers and NPR’s Tiny Desk series.

I’m available for freelance video and / or photo work. You can get in touch by emailing: lukepiotrowski123@gmail.com
